Head of Performing Arts: Dance specialist (Maternity cover)

Main Scale, dependent on experience

We are seeking an enthusiastic and determined Head of performing arts to join our energetic and experienced Performing Arts Department from Easter 2023. The successful candidate should have an understanding of how to motivate and drive a department forward, have experience in teaching GCSE and KS3 Dance, the ability to teach drama and music at KS3 is desirable.
Performing Arts is a thriving department at Everest Community Academy. Within the school, dance, music and drama are highly respected, popular subjects across all key stages. Students study dance, music and drama for one lesson per week in years 7, 8 and 9 and can then study GCSE Dance and GCSE Drama from year 10 as part of the school GCSE programme. The aspirational and engaging curriculum we provide attracts healthy GCSE uptake and our highly enthusiastic team of performing arts staff also work hard to offer students exciting extracurricular activities. These include regular showcases, workshops with external practitioners and a wide range of performing arts clubs, such as Dance Company.
In the wider context, we are a fast paced and dynamic mixed comprehensive school meeting the needs of children of all abilities from 11-16 years. The school is in an exciting phase, having joined the high performing Bourne Education Trust in 2017. We are eager to appoint exceptional individuals who wish to make a significant contribution to the learning and lives of our students. We have a proven track record of working with and developing newly qualified teachers and those ready for promotion. We were obviously delighted with the swift progress being made by the school but are greedy for more.
